This is not a typical history of an energy healer.
If you enjoy lots of details, here's the long story.
The World as We Know It
I grew up in the Midwest. Through high school I lived in Missouri, undergrad was in Ohio. Energy was what came from a utility company. My teaching and understanding was based on a human body that was structural (bones), tissues (muscles, tendons and ligaments) and organs, like the digestive tract that operated with chemicals. Even the nervous system was based on nerves jumping a synapse with a chemical communication. An electrical system was not taught or discussed.
Perspective
Honestly, I distrusted non-traditional healing...in fact, I made fun of non-traditional modalities. All that New Age stuff was hippie, woo-woo stuff. And to be completely fair, I thought it was hippie, woo-woo crap.
I thought I was open-minded and I understood the world around me...I certainly believed I knew my reality.
After college, I lived in China for over 4 years after college, I moved back to the mid-west, I completed my MBA at a good school, I went to work for a great company. My hard work and ambition paid off. I was quickly promoted to a new role in Seattle, Washington. My life was consumed with work, because I like being amazingly good at what I do. My role kept me traveling 75% of the time. One day, I realized that I was living in Seattle and traveling to all these cities, and I only knew what the inside of the offices looked like in each of the cities. I decided to at least experience what Seattle had to offer. Many people tend to look far from home to find things of interest (including myself) and I just thought I should at least leverage the cities I now (sort of) lived in. I went skiing. I went to some free-form dances. Through dance, I met a lot of people that were in alternative healing practices...and most of them seemed sane.
Reality & Empirical Experiences
Then I decided I should experience things. My thought was I can spend about a hundred dollars and an hour and have an actual direct experience with these different practices, so then I would have empirical experiences for my belief system. I tried Ayurvedic massage and cranial sacral work, had a shaman session, tried sound/drum healing, relaxed into watsu and even had a soul retrieval. Somewhere along the way I tried network chiropractic. I remember being face down on the table and the guy was behind me doing something with his hands in the air above my body. Then my body started to move around and there was a wave that my body made, like a dolphin swimming. That wasn't possible. Without touching me, someone got my body to move. Not possible...and yet it happened. The realization that one's perspective on reality is not correct can be be an interesting one. Instead of covering over the experience with cognitive dissonance in a rejection of the experience, I decided to challenge my belief system. For me, it opened my exploration. Through my personal experiences, I was challenged with too many concrete, empirical examples that I had to change my perspective on reality.
Other People Knew It First
At dances and some other places, people decided I was a good person to cry on. People would come up to me, hug me, cry and release. Sometimes it was with men or women I had just met. A couple times the crying lasted over an hour. This peak has subsided for the most part now, but it was an interesting wake up for me that something was going on.
Friends started telling me I was a healer. That also did not fit the structured, ambitious mind set I had for myself. I didn't know what to think about that, but the volume of comments I got and the efforts people would go to to get information for me and encourage me to explore that realm could not be ignored. Then in 2009, a good friend told me about Reconnection Healing. They thought I NEEDED to check it out. I was traveling a lot, but started reading the book and a month or so later, I went in for the two sessions (scheduled one day apart) for The Reconnection. The sessions were amazing. On the table as well as afterwards. When I left, I had a new understanding about energy. I felt differently. I had amazing elevated levels of energy and some pristine clarity in my life. A month later, I had traveled to Canada to start Reconnection Healing training. And that's how Reconnection Healing chose me.
A FISH KNOWS WATER LAST
Here's how I made the transition.
New Talents
Upon my return from training, I was at a healers' benefit for someone. People found out what I had been up to and by the end of the night, I was working on people. The feedback was quite positive. Between 2009 and mid 2011, I would work on people in my spare time. I was lucky enough to have direct access to many fabulous healers that could not only feel and experience my gifts, but discern their experiences and articulate how the sessions affected and helped them. This was crucial for a doubter, like myself. I considered placebo effects, politeness, group insanity, and anything that could disprove what was happening. I even tried to work on people that were doubters themselves. But the responses were undeniable.
Serving vs. Accomplishing
When I saw the positive changes that were happening in people's lives, I had an amazing sense of fulfillment. It was markedly different from the feeling I got from overcoming the complex challenges at work.
Answering The Call
My professional life was going really well and it was very financially rewarding. I had worked hard my whole life and made many, many sacrifices to become very successful "in the real world". The sacrifices were really paying off. I was earning the great salary. I was doing very interesting, very challenging work. And yet, I was about to answer the call to do something completely insane.
Heart Lead
I saved up and bought my place in Capitol Hill. Then the stars and moons aligned for me to leave work. A massive project was coming to an end, and I needed to move into a new role. I realized I didn't want to move into a new role there, and I did something odd. I listened to my heart and my soul. My heart and my soul made a different decision than my brain would make. And that's when I made my crazy leap of faith.
In 2011, I trained in Matrix Energetics, and by the beginning of 2012, I became a Certified Practitioner. Both systems worked well for me and my clients. These different flavors and tools can both be used to help people make transformations.
I still find it incredible that I was able to jump my rut, but that's the power of Reconnection Healing. It's changed my life, and that's why I am here to help share this energy work with you. Contact me now to schedule your appointment to experience this amazing work.
